1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

1 Mile this morning with the double jogging stroller & 80 pounds of kid.

2 Miles with Christine tonight at 10:21 pace.

I continue to feel better and better about having run a half. I feel like I can do ANYTHING now. It's probably a good time to hit me up to do a multi-level marketing scheme. He he he. (Just kidding, please don't!)

I know what I need to tackle next...EARLY morning running. It is a sad fact, but summer is just around the corner. Running around 5 am is absolutely essential to surviving the heat. I should make the adjustment now, while I am all pumped up. OK. Tomorrow, I'm going running at 5:30 am. If I don't...then...I'll...do 30 push-ups in one day (it would take a full day to accomplish this, since I can only do 1 at a time--laugh if you must.) But no worries, because I'm going running at 5:30! Time for some WOMAN POWER. (Kind of like will power, but it fluctuates a little more.)

I'm full of that fluctuating Woman Power ... I hope yours fluctuates towards an early morning tomorrow!

"Race High" is addicting. Good luck getting up early!

From Walter on Wed, Apr 09, 2008 at 10:53:04

Hey, good to see you feeling so well! That wore me out when I drove down there, ran, ran some more, ran even more, slept on a couch,(which im grateful for) and then drove back to slc. that right there is an Ironman event! Happy birthday by the way and soak up some sun for me! Its ugly weather today here!

From Christi on Wed, Apr 09, 2008 at 11:52:35

You are awesome! I need to tackle the early morning too- I used to do it, but in March I got REAL lazy. You are a great example for me. I'm doing the Hurricane 1/2 next month so I better get moving!

From laura on Wed, Apr 09, 2008 at 11:56:47

You're such a hoot!! :o) Good luck with the early runs!! You were doing great last summer/early fall sticking to that early schedule.

From linda10k on Wed, Apr 09, 2008 at 12:00:37

How's the barefoot running coming? Running in the morning is a great goal. Good luck with it. I struggle getting up early in the winter but during the summer it doesn't seem as hard. Why is that do you think? You did a great job getting those miles in.

From Lybi on Wed, Apr 09, 2008 at 12:08:57

Thanks, Linda! Yesterday I skipped barefooting, but I did it today. I really like it, as long as I don't go too far or try to go too fast. I think it is making my foot stronger.

Yea, the super-heat teaches me to get out early. There is a severe consequence for skipping a morning run, and it's called heat exhaustion from trying to run at night. Yuck.

Walter, you are welcome on our couch anytime! BTW, traveling to and from Utah is a lot easier with James driving the whole way while you snooze. James is definitely the iron man when it comes to traveling!

Ha ha, your mom and I were just thinking it is about that time of year for you to want to move to NM ;) Sorry someone bought the house I picked out for you but there are still lots of options.

I'm also finding myself going out earlier too. For a while I was waiting until the afternoon because I wanted it to be warm. Now if I don't get out in the morning when it is cool then it is hard to make myself go out in the heat :) Still, all my runs are AFTER the sun comes up :)

Congrats Lybi on your 1/2 marathon. Thats quite a feat and accomplishment for your first time. My 10 year old wants to run one, doubt I would even be close to him plus Im still recovering. Good enthusiasm, keep it up

From laura on Wed, Apr 09, 2008 at 16:05:39

So ... did you go at 5:30 this morning????

(P.S. I just sent you an e-mail, so go check your e-mail.)

From Walter on Wed, Apr 09, 2008 at 20:06:42

Thats good that James is good at driving for a long time. It took all of us to get home from your house. Very long drive!

From adam on Wed, Apr 09, 2008 at 22:13:54

Lybi, you got a ton of pictures up at zazoosh.com (there's even one with the jogging stroller)!

From Lybi on Wed, Apr 09, 2008 at 22:48:13

Walter--we got home at 1:15 in the afternoon! (We left at 3:15 our time, though.) It was a major driving record for us.

Laura, I just did a push-up. Just kidding--I hate push-ups, and I was out there running barefoot as the sun came up!

Michael, nice to hear from you! It's been a while. Good luck on your continued recovery.

Kristina, James just applied for a job in UTAH, so the New Mexico contingent of the job hunt better step it up. ;)
