Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

2.15 barefoot miles at 8:57 pace on average.  I pushed a little on the last mile, and ran the last .1 as fast as I could.  It was a really nice morning--not too hot!  The only item of interest was that I got behind a walker with her ipod cranked up just a little to high, and I almost ran into her because she did not hear me repeatedly saying "excuse me."   I was going to go around her, but she stepped sideways a little to avoid something on the road and almost got smooshed by me.  I'm amazed she didn't scream.  If I were her, I would've screamed.  I mean, here it is, 6:00 am, you're completely alone, and then out of nowhere a runner materializes right next to you and almost collides with you.  Very ominous.  It probably helped that I was wearing my pink running clothes today.  It's hard to be scared by someone in pink...

I can't imagine why she wouldn't scream! :-P Yeah I agree a fierce tiger runner all dressed in pink and she doesn't scare an 80s hair band listening ipod walker! I mean come on! haha. If anything I think if I were the walker I'd be startled because this crazy runner materialized without sneakers on. The only way your story would be better is if she was singing to Journey or Men at work ... "WHO can it beeee nowww? Who can it beeee noooow?" LYBI the barefoot take no prisoners I will smoosh the competition if they get in my way Runner!

I was passed by a guy a few weeks ago and I DID scream. I was SO embarrased! My ipod was too loud and I was listening to the Scorpions- 80's for sure! the 80's live forever in my ipod!!! The dude was trying not to fall over laughing :D I'm sure I made his day.

Hahaha. That's funny - you AND Marion!! Glad you had good weather! That's a blessing in July for sure!

I knew I had some kind of kindredshipwith you Marion. Screaming is, of course, the most logical course of action when getting passed. You see it all the time among elite runners...usually followed by puking. ;)

I feel like Anne of Green Gables, meeting all of my kindred spirits at this blog! Actually, you drinking the chocolate was the clincher for me :)

I'll have to remember to throw up next time... I'll stash some gu for the occasion :D

Barefoot runners wearing pink, listening to 80's music and screaming when passed... You ladies are too crazy for my taste ;)
