1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

2.5 Miles this morning alone

1.25 running my 7 year-old to school.

I was looking at my monthly mileage last night. Check this out:

July-46.65

Aug.-61.28

Sept.-83.59

Oct.-106.75

Nov. I am scheduled to be over 120 if I have a perfect mileage week this week.

So I've almost tripled my mileage in 5 months! I want to be up to 40 miles a week (160 miles a month) by February. So Dec. better be close to 140, I guess.

***********************************************************************

PM Ran 1.25 to get my son from school. I was running late, so I had to BOOK it!  Fastest half mile I've run in a while, although I didn't have the Garmin.  I was tired running back, and wouldn't you know it--I fell. Not a dainty little trip where I catch myself halfway down--I was all splayed out on the sidewalk like roadkill!  And right in front of the school too...all those witnesses!   *Blush*

Lybi nice job on the mileage! I think those high school records are going DOWN in 2008!

From josse on Mon, Nov 26, 2007 at 11:37:57

Great job on the mileage. Keep it up and you will be training for a marathon before you know it.

From Kim on Mon, Nov 26, 2007 at 12:31:13

Lybi, You are such an awesome little blond caboose! (Sorry, I was thinking of James pulling you up those hills a few days ago.) Way to up the mileage! I never would have imagined it was good and enjoyable to run pretty much everyday. Can't wait to see that 120! Keep on keepin' on!

From Christi on Mon, Nov 26, 2007 at 13:33:38

Thanks for the motivation!!! You are doing awesome, hope I can catch up w/ you during the half at Moab!!

From laura on Mon, Nov 26, 2007 at 15:31:16

Lybi, St.George 2008 is in your future.

From Lybi on Mon, Nov 26, 2007 at 18:08:06

Tom, that is my fondest hope! I don't know why, but I have an insane desire to be faster at age 30 than I was at 17.

Thanks Josse, Kim, Christi, and Laura!

And WILDBULL!!!! So good to see you! Thanks for dropping by and don't be a stranger, ok?

From Lybi on Mon, Nov 26, 2007 at 18:08:58

Hey Brent--you caught me in a moment of weakness...BRING IT ON!

From Shauna on Mon, Nov 26, 2007 at 21:32:05

Great job on the increased mileage! You rock!

From Brent on Mon, Nov 26, 2007 at 21:39:50

Lybi, we want more about the fall, how fast were you back on your feet and running? Did you yell I planned that? Did you cry or do any other crazy gestures. This may be worth some commando points. Falling should be embelished as with catching the big fish. No good fall comes without a good story.

From Bethany on Mon, Nov 26, 2007 at 21:53:46

Nice mileage Lybi! Way to go!!!! You truly are an inspiration. Hope the fall didnt leave any lasting marks on you (other than embarassment...:) Im sure anyone who saw has forgotten it by now.

From Clay on Mon, Nov 26, 2007 at 22:47:26

Im sure the fall was done with dignity and class, as only you could do Lybi...

I hope you are all right though, nice job on the mileage too.

From marciej on Mon, Nov 26, 2007 at 23:05:10

Awesome on the mileage, that is so cool to see the miles go up. You will definetley get to where you want to be with the great attitude and determination you have! Sorry about your fall. We all have to get a few good ones in:)(I have supermanned it twice in a one week!)

From Lybi on Mon, Nov 26, 2007 at 23:32:25

Not a very glamorous fall, but here are the gory details...

I was jogging ridiculously slow and relaxed, and I just halfway stepped off the sidewalk and my ankle totally rolled sideways. As I fell, I was thinking "That's weird, usually there is a muscle that keeps that from happening." Well, if there is a muscle for stabilizing that joint, it was definitely on vacation today. Anyway, I caught myself with my knee, which is moderately skinned, and my left hand which is mildly skinned. Who needs skin there anyway? Skin is for sissies! But, like a Nascar crash, I continued falling until I somehow ended up laying on the ground. What can you do? I actually laid there for about 30 seconds, trying to blend into the pavement and postpone facing the horders of parents and teachers witnessing my embarrassment. After a little while my little 7 year old was like "Um, Mom...what are you doing?" Rather than try to come up with a logical response, I just burst out laughing and sheepishly made my way home at an even slower pace.

I'm not hurt, just humiliated. :)

Oh Lybi, Owchhhh!!! I'm sure you did it with grace like everything else that you do!

From Michael on Tue, Nov 27, 2007 at 10:09:19

Take advantage of the Arizona winter weather for your mileage.

Why stop at 140, why not triple it again in 5 months - 360 miles by April

From Christi on Tue, Nov 27, 2007 at 10:35:52

Well- my Dad didn't call me "Grace" growing up for nothin'! I'm pretty sure a fall is all part of the runner lifestyle. I've fallen a couple times- I always feel really cool afterwards (NOT!) Its bound to happen with all those miles you're logging. This might be good for your relationship with all those parents & teachers- they were starting to really despise your fitness, now you are back down to SUPERMOM level, not super goddess! Glad you're not hurt!!!
