1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

3.5 Outside with my dog at "heaven can wait" pace. Had to go under and over fences in a construction site. How dare they do construction on my 3.5 loop--they didn't even ask me!

Then a marathon pace mile barefoot in 8:47.

Thanks for all the encouragement, you guys. I am starting to bounce back. I can FEEEEEEEEL it.

You have seen "Heaven Can Wait" . That is one of my favorite movies.

All part of my "I wanna be like Ashbaker bid," Steve.

Based on this workout, you should be able to run a half in a week at 10:00 pace, which would give you 2:11. You might even be able to do it faster depending on how hard that 8:47 mile felt, and how fast your fitness will make it back. In other words, if you sign up for Provo Half, you have a shot at finishing decent.

Well I am relieved to read that Sasha. Does that mean you guys are still willing to put us up if we come? Better check with Sarah first--it is very short notice. I would really like to try it, and James is willing to come along and make sure I don't try to flee the starting line. :)

From sarah on Mon, Mar 31, 2008 at 12:54:47

Of course you could still come...whatever you decide we are here for you with open arms!!! We love you.

My only regret is that I can't run it with you because I have run so many half marathons now that I know I could have paced you. We thought about asking Jamie to help you out...even though she's pregnant she is still in good enough shape to run that pace for a half...

Have I ever mentioned that I have threatened to not run almost every single race Sasha's ever signed me up for? Also, have a mentioned that he used nothing but straight bribery to get me to run fast when I was getting in shape. I got clothes, jewelery or basically whatever I wanted. Is James good for a bribe? Maybe Sasha will even buy you a new movie. :)

Yea...yea...yea...YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! !!!!!!!! I am downright silly with happiness!

From sarah on Mon, Mar 31, 2008 at 15:19:58

Are you happy about the trip, the run or knowing my deep dark secret that I had no real discipline of my own and only inflicted pain on myself for cheap thrills later? Just kidding...I know you are excited to come and see us!!

From sarah on Mon, Mar 31, 2008 at 15:30:25

Okay..now I'm getting super excited because I just had a fabulous idea..We'll have to have a pre-race party in your honor at our house for all local FRB locals...Michelle, Jamie, Josse, Steve, Kim and Tom...anybody close enough to drive to our house. I'm sure they would come over just to see you and meet the kiddos. I'll have to think if a spaghetti dinner is a good idea or maybe we should just have a smoothie get together....Anyway...sounds too good of a chance to pass up to me. :)..I think Brent is close enough to make a apperance :) :)

From Kim on Mon, Mar 31, 2008 at 15:57:17

Only problem is we are going to be in Ogden running the Strider's half. I know Brent and Sylvie will be there too. We are only running the one in Ogden because that is what everyone else was planning at one time also. I would have been happy to be sleeping in my own bed and running the Provo 1/2. Oh well...

It would have been fun to join in the festivities...maybe next time.

Good luck to all of you running in Provo!

From sarah on Mon, Mar 31, 2008 at 16:00:19

Maybe folks will be back for a post race Sunday after conference smoothie party?

From Kim on Mon, Mar 31, 2008 at 16:11:09

Possibly!:)

From Lybi on Mon, Mar 31, 2008 at 20:37:36

Yea! I would be so happy see those guys, too.

I need to offer oblations to Michelle, give Steve flack about his motorcycle, congratulate Jamie, get Josse's help learning to scrap my injured hubby, obtain forgiveness from Kim for switching to Provo instead of Striders, and give Tom congrats for the PR I know he will get on Sat. It will be a very full weekend. :) Just don't feel any obligation to throw some huge thing, though, Sarah! I don't want you to be too exhausted to have fun too.
