1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

3.7 Miles with the double jogger. Ugh! I ran through some stinking deep mud with that thing. Almost got stuck.

Felt really sluggish yet again. I'm not sick, so what the heck is wrong with me? I got good sleep last night, too. Maybe it was from fasting yesterday. Fasting seems harder for me since I started running, for some reason.

1.3 Miles this evening at 9:16 ave. pace.  Probably in the "junk" miles range, as it wasn't really fast enough to be tempo or slow enough to be easy.   "Just want to be done running soon" pace, I guess.   Felt good not to feel like I was dragging, though.

Lybi, I love the new pic. it looks like both of you exactly and sooo cute! I don't know if it was fast Sunday or what but I have had a few of those runs myself. My biggest problem is getting out the door, sometimes it is realy hard!

Great pic! You both look GREAT! Like your necklace and James eyes look so blue! I didn't want to complain about my fast yesterday- but I started feeling sick after fasting all day yesterday. I was probably going to get sick anyway- but going without food for awhile probably left me even more vunerable. So today I'm sick w/ head cold. Oh well. Good job getting out there and play it safe w/ good food & good rest!

I say it was all due to the yuckiness of Monday!!!! ha,ha I felt out of sorts all day today and I didn't fast yesterday!! ;o)

From Jody on Mon, Dec 03, 2007 at 23:55:26

The new picture is great. Fasting makes running so much harder. I always eat so late in the day and then enough to make up for two days of fasting. I end up sick most times.

"junk" miles ha. I like it, though I dont buy it. At least you did something!

I found in my experience that ideally you should load before the fast, not after. Avocados work very well for me. Afterwards, do not start eating a lot right away. Ease into it. Make sure to rehydrate first. Then some fruit vegetables. Then 20 minutes later the main course, take it slow, and do not pig out.

From Clay on Tue, Dec 04, 2007 at 13:15:00

It could be the increase in mileage too Lybi, just realize some runs will be like this, Sasha had some good points as well. Ease into the food thing when fast Sunday comes around and make sure you rehydrate, again like Sasha said.

I love your new picture. Where did you get it? Do you want to replace the wedding picture of you two on the family room wall with an 8X10 of that picture. Make a good Christmas present!

From Lybi on Tue, Dec 04, 2007 at 17:22:12

Hey Sasha, I haven't heard from you in a while. I am all over the avocado idea! You know how much I love avocados!

Thanks everybody for your comments! Comments make me happy, it is true. Even if all you say is "You ran. That's good." it makes a big difference to me.
