1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

3 miles at 3 am.  Temp was nice!  I really liked not having a lot of cars zooming by.  Saw 2 cars the whole run.  I didn't do the tempo at Sasha's request.  Plus I was reading a book about running injuries last night and it said not to try to increase weekly distance on the same week that you add speed workouts.  Anyway, I liked running way early (other than the 1st 5 minutes). The only problem was that I kept waking up all night long.  Is it time to run!?  Is it time to run!?  Plus my children woke me up a couple of times, so I'm a little tired--even though I went back to bed after my run.  I'll have to give it another try to see if it is going to work for me.   ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz.

Wow, 16 exclamation points. That sounds serious. Tell you what, I'll go to bed an hour earlier. OK?

From Sasha Pachev on Wed, Jun 20, 2007 at 17:56:20

You need to get at least 6 hours of continuous sleep, ideally 7-8. So 3 AM would be OK if you could consistently go to bed at 8 PM, 9 PM at the latest, and fall asleep immediately.

OK. I'll try 9:30 pm to 4:00 am (very close!) then 5-7 pm. Plus a 20 min. nap at 1:00 pm. Good?

Hello Lybi! Thanks for your uplifting comments. 3am! Wow- you are dedicated. I can only get up at 6am with a partner! In St. George I can still stand to run at 6am, any later is too hot. But you do have to do whatever it takes to avoid heat- I hear you sister! Are you training for a particular race right now?

From michelle on Wed, Jun 20, 2007 at 22:47:08

I can't believe that you got up at 3:00 A.M. to run what dedication! (Maybe borderline ..... yes very dedicated!) I bet you sleep better tonight! good luck with the run tonight/tomorrow whenever it is at that time of day! If I work a night shift I don't consider it the next day untill I go to bed around 7:00 the next morning but if you get up in the night and then go back to bed.... there should be a time to describe that like, I don't know, I'll have to think on that one! By the way did you go back to sleep easily or did it take a while?

From Lybi on Wed, Jun 20, 2007 at 23:25:38

Within 15 min. I was in snoozeland. I'm not nutzo! Lots of people out here run in the night. Well, at least my one marathon running mommy friend does. Hmmm.

Well, this is just an experiment. I probably would've never tried it if I hadn't said I would on this blog!
