1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

5 Miles on the treadmill. I am exceedingly tired this week from very poor sleep. I don't think I will be increasing my miles this week, but hopefully I'll still break 30.

Has anyone ever heard of people's teeth never growing in? I took my son to the dentist and he said that a few of his grown up teeth just never developed and will never come up... What the heck?

A long time ago my dentist looked at my x-rays and said I only had 3 Wisdom teeth instead of 4. Not sure why the 4th never came though.

Not sure about the adult teeth, but I had a baby tooth that would not come out. When I was 12, my pediatric dentist finally pulled it, and the adult tooth grew in.

Great job getting the miles in on bad sleep!

Which son? Which teeth? I think I have heard of it. Not common, though.

Lybi, welcome to the club. My daughter has this condition. I was shocked to learn few years ago, that her permanent molars (or whatever they are called, two teeth right next to the first two teeth on top) never developed and will never grow in!! The orthodontist said it is usually hereditary, but no one in my family or my husband's family has it. He also said it is pretty common these days, and one of his own sons has it too! He offered two solutions: shift all other teeth in with braces, thus closing the gaps, but that would require filing the teeth to make them look like molars. Or leave things as is, wear retainer until she is 18 and stops growing and have two implants put in. I opted for the second option, because I did not like the pictures I saw of kids whose teeth were shifted - it just didn't look natural, all their teeth were crooked. So, my daughter has empty spaces now and wears retainer, but only at night. She doesn't care about appearances, and doesn't wear it during the day (it is somewhat a hassle, you have to take it out for each meal, exercise, etc.). I was afraid she would be teased by other kids, but it never really happened. She doesn't pay attention to it, and no one else does either. I'm afraid she won't want to put implants in even when she is 18!

Maria thank you so much for sharing! The dentist just said it was rare and that I'd have to talk to the orthodontist about the "options," leaving me a little freaked out. It is nice to hear a first hand experience. You know, one of these times I'd really love to go to the dentist and just have a normal, uneventful visit.

Raising kids is full of surprises.

My best friend husband has no permant teeth and 2 of her four children have no permant teeth and few baby teeth. In their family it has been passed down for several generations.

My father still has baby teeth (molars). I had baby teeth with no permanent teeth behind that we pulled and then I had bridges put in due to a major accident where they had to reconstruct the lower part of my face. Yeah, that is a long story. I look like a different person than I did in high school.
