1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

I didn't take the Garmin with me this morning, so I just ran for 33 min.  That should be at least a 5K.  Felt pretty good.

Well, overall I'm satisfied with this last week.  I ran all 6 training days and exceeded my weekly mileage goal of 18 by a very impressive half a mile.   I still need to choose a race sometime in the next month or so...

Your dog is cute! What's up w/ the ears? Did he/she get fixed? What did you name him/her? Your mileage is impressive this week- great job! Let us know when you pick a race!

Christi, he has underwear on his head. All the great runners do this, I hear. (He he.) His name is Webster Sparks, but we call him "Sparky" for short.

Thanks for noticing my miles! The huge accomplishment this week was that I got up before 6 am every single day to run. That is a huge record for me.

From Cody on Sat, Sep 08, 2007 at 15:03:29

I copy many of Pauls training techniques but I am afraid that this takes the cake. Putting underwear on the dogs head (just because Paul does it too) does NOT make you a faster runner. Sorry

Congrats on your mileage goal. Good Job!

It really has nothing to do with getting faster--it has to do with proving my point that it actually WAS underwear, despite his denial. I mean, look at it! It looks exactly the same.

Do you treat your children like this too. Do they have to pay the piano with James' smelly socks/underwear nearby as a constant reminder? If so, sweet! That is the type of parenting we should all strive for.

That hurt my feelings, Cody, was that your intent?

From Cody on Sat, Sep 08, 2007 at 15:32:59

I guess the sarcasm doesn't come across properly. My wife says I am not funny and now I have proof. Sorry, not meant to be mean. I think I will quit trying to be funny and go back to being nerdy...

From Lybi on Sat, Sep 08, 2007 at 16:21:04

Nerds are great. Don't worry, I've done the same thing lots of times. I do think you are funny as a rule.

I really shouldn't push the underwear topic- but I gotta know- did he get into this himself or placed there by a kid?

From Brent on Sun, Sep 09, 2007 at 20:05:43

How many miles on that pair of underwear. I think the underwear should have it's own blog site and keep us updated? Please leave out any racing stripes, unless it really happends in a race.

Lybi, thanks for your comments. Every day is a fun day to read your blog.

Christi--a rather...large...kid is responsible for it. The dog is innocent.

Brent! Scandalous! Double-yuck. (And also ha ha.)
