Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

So let me explain...

I sort of accidentally purposefully temporarily rashly cowardly made my blog private for, like 18 hours as a consequence for laying around being a dork for an hour during the only time I had to run yesterday.

So there is no need to email Sasha and ask him what the heck is wrong with his computer program.

So, suffering from small lapse in running motivation, people. A little help? But I did finally get out late last night. My dog was the hero of the moment. After being used to run at least 3 miles a day, he was about ready to explode with energy (and that usually ends up causing a rather nasty clean-up effort on my part) so I finally conceded and got out the door with him. Just another reason to love my dog.

2 slow miles shod, and then a fast mile barefoot. I don't know the time because I wasn't wearing my garmin, but it sure felt good to stretch out a little. I've been running extra slow for almost a month--ever since I started having knee pain. But there were no ill effects or running faster, so I am feeling slightly encouraged.

But let me just put this out there--THANK YOU SO MUCH BRENT! You always know just what to say.

Lybi, the running gurus are forgiving, take your running shoes out of the trash. No one will ever know about the bag of potatoe chips, zingers, bon bons, french fries, donuts, chocolate shake, etc. You only gained 15 pounds in one hour. You can run it off with an overnight run.

I kind of had a thought that maybe you made your blog private, but quickly dismissed it, because you, of all people, are the most unlikely candidate for a private blog! You are way too active in this community to take the interaction piece away.

Are you okay honey? I didn't even know you could make your blog private...You most certainly are allowed to some privacy..

I watched a show about dogs last night with my kids and thought of you..probably because I don't watch TV shows about dogs very often and had the pleasure last time with you. Did you know dogs can be trained to smell chemical changes in your body. There was one story of a little boy with diabetes who had life threatening seizures when his blood sugar crashed. His family had only 15 minutes after the seizure to save him...they were on call day and night and exhausted. The found and trained a dog that could smell the changes in his blood sugar long before the seizure happened. Interesting. It also talked about how terriers are born killers and were trained and bred for years to kill rats on the family farm. Aggresive behavior in terriers can be difficult to overcome because it is what scientists call a hard wired gene. Okay...enough dog talk...hope you feel better after taking a day off.

I admire you for running barefoot, there's no way in heck I could do that! I know Lybi I'm a wimp! My feet are so sensitive, I'd be crying like a baby:(

Hey- I think we all go through those motivation "issues" I know I do! They usually pass and I think its usually 1 of 2 things- either our body or mind need a short break, or we are making too big of a deal about tying up the shoes and getting out there (the hard part) Sounds like you got a great run in. Just listen to your body, it won't lead you astray!

Oh, and what is with this barefoot running? Is Zola Budd (runner from S. Africa in the early 80's who ran the Olympic mile barefoot)running again? Did I miss something?

Laura - everyone deserves a big sister like you

James - what she won't say is that I am the reason Striders is now so painful - me and my wounded ego of not wanting to come up there when I can't run!

Lulu - bring on the comments, Lybi needs some good general harassment from people other than me. She gets tired of me saying "aren't you going to run tonight?"

Clay - you should try it some time. Although I recommend starting on a softer surface . . . I made the mistake of burning up the sidewalk running barefoot faster than I thought, and ended up with bruised toes!

Brent - 100 Commando points for making Lybi laugh when she was drinking milk and having it come out her nose! Too bad I wasn't there to witness it! Even better would have been pop, but since she doesn't drink pop, too bad. I still remember a time when I was a kid when we were drinking Verners (a really, really, really STRONG ginger ale) and that happened to me . . . scarred for life, I tell you!

Honey, I love you no matter what! Now get out there and run!
