1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

That's right.  That's MILEAGE up there.  Anything over 1 mile is mileage, at least to me. I rounded up to 1.32.  Actually, it was only 1.31.  heh.  Anyway, I'm pretty proud of myself for not walking (although what I DID do was definitely not running, but not wogging...I was chugging, I guess.)

Today was not quite as fun as yesterday because I was SORE.  Super sore.  The kind of sore that takes an extra few seconds to sit down, and with a soundtrack that goes "UHGhhhh!" Plus my neck was all totally messed up.  Just before my run we got some sweet new cabinets for the garage, so that explains the neck.  Ha! What do cabinets have to do with my neck?  No, I was not moving them.  I actually got so excited when they arrived that I sprained my neck out of pure joy.  I was like: YAY!  THEY'RE HERE!!!! And then, "ACK! My neck!"  That's some serious joy right there, people.  I had to jog looking left and slightly up the whole way.

Today was the Phoenix Marathon...that's right, the PHOENIX DANG MARATHON!!!  Innaugural year.  It's perfect: it's flat, it's cool, it's on a Saturday, it starts on a dang mountain and mostly goes down, it's not too freaking big, and it's dang LOCAL!!!!  It's like the running gods are toying with me.  That is all.

Why hello Lybi! Guess what? I totally strained my neck when I threw my elbow up to my mouth to cough into it. Dumb.

Well, I'm sorry to hear that, Burt, ol' boy. Hope you recover quickly! We could be neck brace buddies. Then people would probably start wearing them just to be cool like us. ;)

Who wouldn't want to be like us?

Only loosers, clearly.

Way to run 1.31 miles!!! You are a RoCkStAr!!!

I'm so bummed that I didn't know about the Phoenix Marathon until the day of. and that race went THROUGH MY NEIGHBORHOOD! I saw all the "Special Event" signs the day before waiting to be put out, and just assumed it was a bike race. Seriously! I would have participated. LAME! And I also think it's ironic that it is called the Phoenix Marathon when it doesn't even go into Phoenix. ha ha!

How is your neck doing today?

From Lybi on Mon, Mar 05, 2012 at 22:33:53 from 68.3.188.21

How cool about the "Phoenix Marathon" haha, (East Mesa Marathon, :P) Camille, I seriously see myself running this marathon with you someday.

My neck is fine, I just had to calm down a bit. No blood, no foul.
