1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

Yesterday was my highest mileage day so far at 6.  My hamstrings are complaining just a little.

It's not too hard to get 5.  I just add a little more annoyance to my morning 3.1 to get it to 3.5, then take the aggravating long-cut to school with the boys to get me the rest of the 1.5.

SO GUESS WHAT!!!

(No I am not pregnant...why does everyone keep asking me that?)

I am going to run a half marathon!  Apparently there is a half in Moab in March (is that right, Michelle?) that some of the ladies from the blog are going to do.  YAY!  2 weeks ago I was uttering opposed to running any race longer than 3.1 miles.  The turning point was St. George.  It left me with a desire to run longer--and also with a desire to find excuses to run with Mik'L and Michelle again!  So we need to think of a cool group name.  (It's not a relay, BTW--just a group to either all get in or not get in.)  I kind of want to borrow Christi's blog name to call us the "Shuffling Sistas".   Everyone please leave suggestions!  No such thing as a bad idea--post ANY names you can come up with for our little entourage!  I'll add more of my name ideas later, but I've gotta go now.   By the way, who is doing it?  All girls invited!  That means YOU MichelleL!  Also Josse and Lulu and Kate--and Christi, there's absolutely no way you can get out of coming!

I've looked at the race web site. I'll consider it. I have to figure out if I can travel at that time and run at that elevation without getting sick. Remember, here in Louisiana we don't have any mountains!

From Michelle on Wed, Oct 10, 2007 at 14:43:18

Well wouldn't that be fun to have so many of us there to run together. Keep thinking up great names, and I'll check the web site and see when we have to have the entrance in. I'm not sure what the elevation of Moab is, but I don't think it's that high, maybe around 3000 ft? Anyone know for sure? Well anyways I'm excitted that your in Lybi! And as far as the rest of you go the more the merrier?(sp) I'm really thinking about the half in St. George in Jan. Lybi how bout that one? I know it's a long drive and we'll take what we can get!

From Lulu on Wed, Oct 10, 2007 at 15:08:13

4100 feet. Sea level to 4100 feet isn't bad if your aren't running. Training at sea level + running at 4100 feet = sick, I think. Anyone know? I know when I went from sea level to 9000 feet in May I got sick in a hurry and I didn't run.

From Mik'L on Wed, Oct 10, 2007 at 15:35:07

First of all Lybi you have got to change your picture...that doesn't even look like you! (To me anyway.) I would love to do Moab with everyone, as long as you don't laugh at me when you are all done and I still have 5 miles to go or something. I may have a real excuse by then, but we'll see. And Lulu, I don't think running at altitude really makes you sick, it's just hard on the lungs! Might slow you down a bit. Although I have gotten altitude sickness before? (That's my story about fainting three times within ten minutes.) But it wasn't from running and we were really high (Brian Head).

From laura on Wed, Oct 10, 2007 at 15:59:27

That's great, Lybi!!! I'm proud of you settting your sites higher! I would like to say I'd be ready for a half marathon in March, but that sure sounds like a stretch!

From Christi on Wed, Oct 10, 2007 at 20:36:30

"Dashing Divas" and we could have matching shirts! Just an idea... You can have shuffling sistas if you want, but dashing would sound a little faster (like we all are- HA!) Anyway- the Moab 1/2 looks beautiful! I'm going to see what I can do. We were supposed to be going to S. CA that week (disneyland) 'cause the kids have a break from school. But we'll see, maybe I can move things around. I'm doing Painters 1/2 in Jan. for sure...

From Lybi on Wed, Oct 10, 2007 at 21:10:05

There. Hope that picture captures the real me for you, Mik'L. Fainting? I've got to hear that story some time. Wow that must be some mountain!

I hope you can come, Christi and Lulu. I am running it just for completion--and as a side note, living to run again another day.

Ummm... the Painter's half is too soon for comfort. Plus I'd prefer NOT to drive on the death traps disguised as Utah roads in January.

I like "Dashing Divas". Makes me want to start thinking about a possible team uniform--we'd each need a feather boa (chuckle).

I think I'll post my name ideas on the discussion board, under "running".

From laura on Wed, Oct 10, 2007 at 21:51:44

Cool picture, Lybi, but I can't tell who everyone is. I'm guessing Michelle is in the middle?

Hey, how do you change fonts and colors? Whenever I try, it always goes back to being the same black.

From Shauna on Wed, Oct 10, 2007 at 22:42:49

Congrats on the new goal!

I know every time I go to Flagstaff (1200 ft to 7600 ft), my running is very adversely affected. But when I go to Prescott (1200 ft to 4500), I usually do OK.

From Stacy on Wed, Oct 10, 2007 at 22:49:30

Lybi, is anyone invited to join the group? I was only planning on doing the 5 mile, though, so maybe I'll just go it alone. The one and only time I did that race I had a broken arm and ran around 1:01 for five miles. Not bad for six weeks of training, but I think I can do better. Anyway, Paul and I will both be there.

From Michelle on Wed, Oct 10, 2007 at 22:56:30

O.K. so everyone can see the new picture but me, I still have the old Lybi on my screen? What's up with that?

I'm liking the "Dashing Divas" and as far as the team uniform I like that too! But someone with an actual running store will have to do the picking!

Lulu if it's any thing to consider the half in Moab is almost all down hill if I remeber correctly and the coarse is also beautiful !!!

Christi, I hate to be the devils advocate on the Moab thing, but just let your kids miss school and call it a field trip, we need your experience and spunk!!!

Mik'L as for you, there is only one way you are getting out of this!!!

So that about wraps it up... aside from us not getting in. WE BETTER! Does anyone out there have any pull with the committee or whoever decides?

Well anyone else in? (Sarah I hope your thinking about this I'm sure you've been tuning in :)

From Christi on Thu, Oct 11, 2007 at 00:31:40

Love the picture! Can you photo shop me in? J/K! OK girls- you've talked me into this Moab thing. Sounds so fun, how can I resist?

From Mik'L on Thu, Oct 11, 2007 at 00:32:06

I'm not seeing the new picture either??? Malfunction! Where's Sasha when we need him. I'm OUT on the boa BTW. And I'm not much of a "pink" girl either in case we start talking uniforms. I like to blend in as much as possible. I might just have to sport my SGRC top.

Stacy- Sorry, but you are in on the half now. Better get training!

From Mik'L on Thu, Oct 11, 2007 at 00:32:47

Oh! I just got the new pic...cute...of you guys!

From Lybi on Thu, Oct 11, 2007 at 00:40:22

Yea Christi! I knew we'd get you. Mik'L I would not be caught dead in a feather boa either. But we do have to do SOMETHING extreme.

For anybody who can't see my picture...Michelle is in the middle looking glorious with the sunshine in her hair and also cool with sun-glasses. Mik'L is on the left looking cute and friendly. I am on the right looking slightly stunned with my mouth agape, apparently struggling to inhale. Oh, and Stacy is looking wistfully toward the finish line in the background.

And can I just say...YAY Stacy, of COURSE you will be part of the group, no matter what you choose to run that day!

From Michelle on Thu, Oct 11, 2007 at 09:50:58

Well I guess that I missed out on the little blog social hour last night! And I still can't see the picture. What is wrong with my computer? I'm very excitted about Moab, but we are definatlely going to miss you on Sat.!!!!

From marci on Thu, Oct 11, 2007 at 16:05:28

I didn't do anything special, but the picture showed up tonight. I wonder why it took so long?

From crumpyb1 on Thu, Oct 11, 2007 at 22:48:44

I vote for Dashing Divas! You guys make me laugh. When is the Moab Half?

From callzee on Thu, Oct 11, 2007 at 22:59:36

Lybi, thanks for climbing the wall with me on Friday! That was fun. Maybe someday I'll be able to keep up with you :)

From Lybi on Fri, Oct 12, 2007 at 01:02:15

No maybe about it, Callzee! Next year you'll have to come with us on a run!
