1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

.6 with my son

1.4 tonight with Lyndsay, who is one of my top 10 favorite people, non-family category. We are missionary companions, visiting teaching companions, and full-tilt talk-your-ear-off friends.  She is really fun to talk to--perfect person to run with!  She sprained her ankle a little while back and felt it just a little during the run.  Hopefully it didn't aggravate anything tonight.  She did great!  She ran the whole distance (which was an estimate, btw) without walking.  She does her stair-stepper every night for 30 min., so she is very prepared for running from a cardio standpoint.  It was a delightful run.

Are you going to do the Ogden half or the Provo half?

From Paul Petersen on Wed, Mar 19, 2008 at 09:51:27

Lybi - I sent you a blog Private Message the other day. Did you receive it?

From laura on Thu, Mar 20, 2008 at 00:06:23

Good thing you added "non-family" in there!!!!!!! I might have to go take her out ... I don't take too well to friendly competition! :) hee,hee

Great run, you barefoot sidewalk-running masochist. ;oP

From sarah on Thu, Mar 20, 2008 at 09:02:21

did you really do the barefooted thing..Sasha is getting some special shoes that simulate barefoot running. Steve Hooper knows how to order those. Yay for running with Lyndsay...she is a lovely gal and seems like a fun person to be with.

From Christi on Thu, Mar 20, 2008 at 10:36:01

I love how you enjoy each run to the fullest! You have so many fun running partners from Sparky, to kids to friends! Neat! So you served a mission? Where?

From carrie on Thu, Mar 20, 2008 at 15:06:03

It looks like you are having a blast! An 800 is once around the track right? If it is then I think my 800 is about 1:40 Does that sound right?

From Lybi on Thu, Mar 20, 2008 at 16:08:56

Carrie, an 800 is 2 laps (1/2 a mile). I was asking because you said you did a fast .5. I was wondering what speed you did it since I am really close to your speed. IIIIFFFFF I were to ever try to run a fast .5, I was wondering what I should shoot for.

Christi--We're ward missionaries. Best calling ever!

Sarah-Vibram Five Fingers--I was thinking of asking for them for my birthday. And Lyndsay liked you too. She thought you and Sasha were way too cute together.

Laura--No one compares to you! Just don't get mad at me *quiver*! Just kidding *snicker*. Soon you too will be in the grasp of barefoot running. I hear you can even do it in the snow! (Not that I'll ever have the opportunity.)

Paul--Yup! And you are too kind...you really don't owe ALL your success to my encouragement. Just most of it. (I am joking, people. He didn't say that. C'mon!)

Josse--Provo, although I may just do the 5K. My training has not been very good since the knee thing. But, I'll do whatever Sasha tells me to do, probably. Also, James is kind of injured. If he can't run at all we MAY choose to skip the trip. Pray for James!

From James on Thu, Mar 20, 2008 at 16:13:21

I can use all of the prayers I can get!;) I hope your husband feels better soon, injuries are a bummer. Besides, I still haven't seen the piano teacher in action in a half yet.

From Lybi on Thu, Mar 20, 2008 at 16:20:55

Does "dying" qualify as an "action"? I guess it is a verb...

From James on Thu, Mar 20, 2008 at 16:24:13

Don't be a wuss! You can run a half marathon no problem.

From Sariah DeVard on Thu, Mar 20, 2008 at 19:59:45

Thanks a ton for the encouragement! I need it! Sounds like you understand beginners. Any other advice is always welcomed in the future! So, how's that barefoot running thing going? does it work or just hurt a lot?
