1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

2 miles barefoot.  My left hip was a little sore when I woke up this morning.  I'd like to say I cut my run short to be easy on my hip, but the truth is that I finished reading a book during part of my running time:  "The Long Walk."  Ug, it was painful and treacherous reading.  Not sure I'd recommend it.

Lybi, thanks for the comment! Barefoot, does it make you fast, like the Kenyans? Great job with your running!

lybi thanks for your kind words. I see you have a 40 mile a week goal. That's what i should be striving for. Or 35

Barefoot running? What kind of surface are you running on? I should try that. I've seen people doing that years ago.. thought they were just crazy at the time.

That's the only reason I hate to read, I cut everything else short so I can curl up with the book! Maybe next time you can read a book called "The Long Run", it might go faster. :oD I hope your family is all feeling well and injuries are flying out the window!

Kim, you got me to laugh out loud for real. Cute. Adam is all better, basically, thanks.

Rungel--I like running on the sidewalk best because it has the fewest incidents of little pointy pebbles. You have to alter the way you run to make it more comfortable--NO heel striking! And NO overstriding! I hope I am not crazy. I am just doing an experiement to see if my feet will toughen up and do their job, so the rest of me will stop getting injured. You are MUCH less likely to develop PF, knee problems, or get a sprained ankle while running barefoot.

Mike--I have no clue if I am getting faster. I'm still taking it pretty slow when I'm barefoot. I've only been doing it a couple of weeks.
