1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

I did it!  I did it!

10 miles on the treadmill without stopping.  I watched a WHOLE movie.  I feel ok, not super, but not trashed.  Joints ache a little, and I feel slightly low on energy.  In fact, typing seems too laborious for me right now.  I catch up with you guys later.

Oh, one more thing.  As long as I run more than 1 mile tomorrow I will break my all-time record for weekly mileage.

Wait ago, 10 miles on the treadmill easily translates into much more, you are going to be just fine in January for the half. I CANT even run 10 miles on the treadmill. and also good job on almost beating your record of mileage!!!!!!

From laura on Fri, Dec 21, 2007 at 19:59:21

Great job, Lybi!!!! I thought you were going to run your 10 on Saturday! (I only talked talked to you this morning! I thought that was pretty up to date, but apparently not.) That's amazing mileage on a treadmill!!! So ... what was the movie?

From Lybi on Fri, Dec 21, 2007 at 20:09:22

Thanks MarcieJ! I'm sure you could do it. You just need to watch "Star Dust" while you do it.

Laura--oooh, have you seen it? Very good flick! I decided to do it today because with traveling tomorrow, I wasn't absolutely SURE I would get it done. Better safe than sorry. I went slow, though. 11:06 pace for the most of it. It took me 113 minutes on the dot to do it. Long time--almost 2 hours! Thank goodness for the movie. That's why I didn't do it outside, too BORING without a buddy. Trying to find something to do with the ol' brain is the hardest thing to me about running long.

From Michelle on Fri, Dec 21, 2007 at 20:12:28

WHOAAA!!! Lybi, I totally agree with Marcie and My next comment was Laura's too..? What movie could keep you going for 10 miles???? That's like amazing!! I couldn't even do 3.5 consecutive this morning on mine!!! You are the winner today for sure!!

From Lybi on Fri, Dec 21, 2007 at 20:15:37

I'm the winner, huh? What exactly is my prize? A sore behind! Can't beat that...

Thanks Michelle!

From Michelle on Fri, Dec 21, 2007 at 20:24:41

My husband always tells me that because I usually run more miles than him each day, when I told him what you did, he said you were definatly the WINNER!!! No prize, just the GLORY!!!

More details...what movie and why the treadmill???

From Jody on Fri, Dec 21, 2007 at 21:57:15

WOW!! WOW!! 10 miles on the treadmill. I saw the portable DVD idea on Laura's blog. I need to try that. Can I just say WOW again!

From Sasha Pachev on Fri, Dec 21, 2007 at 22:15:19

Was the pace even throughout the run?

From Mik'L on Fri, Dec 21, 2007 at 22:54:46

I'll say it again...WOW Lybi! I could never do 10 miles on the treadmill. That takes some discipline! Good job! I've heard that movie is good...I might have to check it out.

From Bethany on Sat, Dec 22, 2007 at 00:14:02

Lybi! Congrats girl! Totally knew you could do it though. Awesome job! I almost laid down and took a nap I was so bored with my 4 miles the other day. Nice nice nice. Celebrate!!!

From andee on Sat, Dec 22, 2007 at 13:39:06

CONGRATULATIONS!!! 10 miles on the treadmill - now that deserves an award!! You have nothing to worry about for the 1/2 in January. I'm so impressed - good job!!!!!!

From Shauna on Sat, Dec 22, 2007 at 15:40:03

You go girl! Congrats on the 10 miles, doing it on a treadmill, and breaking your weekly mileage record. Whew! I'm getting tired just writing about all your accomplishments!

From Brent on Sat, Dec 22, 2007 at 16:02:02

Lybi, the mental toughness on a treadmill to go and not stop for 10 miles, may be more important the 10 miles. The mental lesson learned will pay off at your 1/2 marathon. 10 commando points and 100 more if you run 12 next week.

Wow! Thanks for all the sweet comments. Especially you Sasha, you always have the most flattering things to say after a record breaking run...

Well, no the pace wasn't even, I mess with it a lot. During the exciting parts of the movie I speed up, and during the slow parts, I take it back down.

And, in case you missed it, the movie was STARDUST. You must all go watch it immediately!!! It is good! Too intense for children, though. Scary-ish stuff and witchcraft galore.

And I ran on the treadmill because that way I could watch said movie. Next time I'll have some popcorn there while I run. He he.
